The Las Piñas — Muntinlupa District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways has recognized construction conglomerate R-II Builders as one of the top performing contractors for 2021.
The DPWH certificate of recognition, given only recently, indicated the volume of R-II Builders’ accomplishments in various projects within the Las Piñas — Muntinlupa district, virtually including the completion of Phase 1 of Las Piñas City’s multi-purpose building project in November last year at a cost of only P144.7 million.
The feat led to the award of Phase 2 of that project to R-II Builders, which has been undertaking the P137.5-million architectural works for completion on August 13 this year, or 300 days after the effectivity of its contract on 18 October 2021.
The completion of the project, worth a total of P282.2 million, will provide 36 offices for the Las Piñas City’s prosecutors and a high-capacity parking area for its constituents and public servants.
“The parking area will have 123 slots for vehicles and 36 for motorcycles as it spans the entire basement and the next four floors, with the fifth and sixth floors housing the 36 city prosecutors’ offices,” said R-II Builders president Engr. Fernando Tan in announcing the status of the project.
Tan said the project would help improve the city government’s quality of public service, while leaving ample space in the surrounding premises for greenery.
“This multi-purpose building project will thus provide an extension office and increased service capacity for the Las Piñas LGU (local government unit) as it further highlights the significance of multi-sectoral partnerships and alliances in government support infrastructure and urban development,” Tan stressed.
R-II Builders is only the 25th company in the country to be categorized as Quadruple A, the highest level of standard given by the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB), according to company technical services manager Engr. Glen Abad Rubio.
PCAB is a government agency attached to the Department of Trade and Industry and is one of the implementing boards in the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP).
As a Quadruple A contractor of both horizontal and vertical infrastructure projects, R-II Builders is engaged in mass housing and property developments, reclamation, maintenance and management of ports, sewage and solid waste treatment plants, airport aprons and taxiways, full-scale dredging, and construction of flood control facilities, among others.
At the same time, R-II Builders is involved in community development, environmental protection, scholarship grants, public school assistance and relief operations for calamity victims.
The company is a member of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Associations (CREBA), and the Paris-based International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) with over 3,000 members in 70 countries.
